The Basics of Poker
Poker is a card game in which players bet chips against each other to try and make the best hand. The player with the best hand wins all of the chips in the pot.

In each betting interval, a player can also “drop,” which means that they put no chips into the pot and discard their hand. This is commonly done if the person has no bet in their hand, or if they do not have a good enough hand to continue the round.
The betting intervals are typically separated by a period of time called a “showdown.” This is when all remaining players show their hands to the rest of the table. In many variations, a player must have a pair of aces or higher to win the showdown.
